Yes, it does appear that way, unless you consider that day and night are equal over the whole year, and that the summer solstice is the peak of the day length mountain, or something like that. I had the same thoughts. It’s poetry.

Of course, the total hours of daylight and darkness are the same over the year only at the equator and at the poles.
